Clearpage Interactive- MVC website

This is the Missouri Valley college website. Clearpage interactive designed this website. They make interactive websites, they do traditional advertising, and corporate identity. One of their featured projects was designing the Missouri Valley College Website. I like the header. I like how the logo is on the left side and the search bar is on the right side. The navigation is very easy to read. I like how the body area is laid out. I really like the Calendar & Events on the left side. I think college students and other people will find the calendar section useful. I like how "Academics," "Admissions," and "About MVC" is laid out into 3 columns with links underneath. The home page is easy to read and follow. I also like the colors.

The Green House

This is The Green House website. I like how a piece of weatherstrip is coming out from the side (at least that's what it looks like). I think the green and black work well for this website. This is a green website so they pretty much have to use the color green. I like the picture in the body area. I also like that they added a low opacity white curve going from the words to the green curved. This website is a little dark with the black background. The home page is very simple and clean. I like the text on the front. I think the typography works. I like how "weatherstrip," "home," and "energy" are in a bigger font and bold. Those words stand out from the rest. I think this is a simple, but effective website.

CINIVA Design firm

CINIVA founded in 1998, is one of the Mid-Atlantic region's leading website design, business development, and Internet marketing organizations. While the majority of our clients are based in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area, we have worked with businesses and organizations throughout the state and all over the US.    http://www.ciniva.com/about.cfm
They designed the Currituck County (NC) Department of Tourism and Travel website. This is the official website of Currituck Outer Banks tourism. This website has a peaceful feel. I like the colors they chose, but I'm not sure if other people will like it. I like the blue sailboat in the header. I think they chose these colors to match the colors of the little icons above Currituck. This is a basic 3 column website. The text is easy to follow since it's in 3 columns. I like how they have pictures in each of the columns. I think the typography works well on this website. This is a simple, but to the point website. I also love the picture of the horses at the top.

KMW Studio

The Artist Garden - website design by KMW studio
http://kmwstudio.com/website_design_development.html
KMW studio is a graphic and website design firm located in New York. This website is called "The Artist Garden." The project was a landscape design website and the service was art direction, graphic design, and website design and development. I really like this website. I love the colors. The home page has a peaceful feel to it. I like the brown and the blue in the title box. They put the title in all lowercase letters, which you don't see much. The navigation is easy to read and I like it being brown. I think the thumbnail pictures work well on the left side. I like how if you click on a picture it will blow up to a bigger picture on the right side. I have designed 2 working websites and both of my websites have pictures on the side that blow up on the right. I like the feel and look to this website. I think KMW studio did a good job designing this website.

Ultimate Walleye Fishing

http://www.ultimatewalleyefishing.com/services/

This is the Ultimate Walleye Fishing website. They also provide services such as website and print design. It says that they can design logos, custom web design and hosting, brochures, business cars, DVD packaging, and postcards. I really like the background of this website. I also like the colors and textured background. It fits with the fish and outdoor theme.  I like the header picture and the logo. The text below the picture is a little hard to read, but I don't think that text is that important. The centered-aligned navigation is not working. It would look so much better if it was left-aligned.  I like the body layout on the right side. The font is working and I like how the picture separates the body text. I think this is a pretty well designed website.

HindSite Interactive Design Firm_Bare Bites Website

http://www.hindsiteinteractive.com/portfolio/web-design/

HindSite Interactive is graphic design and web development firm. They are located in Frederick, MD.
This is the Bare Bites website that they redesigned. The services were css and html. I think this a cute website. I really like the font choice. It has like a playful feeling to it and also a natural feeling. I think the colors work really well. I like how the Facebook and twitter logos are white and they fit with the website. I think the lines not being straight and has a textured edge to them work because this is a dog and cat treat website. It also gives it a natural feel. I like how the type is laid out next to the picture. It is easy to read and the text is different colors, but still in the same color family. The colors are duller, but I think they work. Again thinking about that natural look. I also love the dog and the cat at the bottom. They are simple, cute, and it adds a touch to the page. I like the design of this website. http://barebites.com/

Tourim Australia website

This is the Wildlife Tourism Australia website. I like the header picture and the curve. I like the pictures at the top. It gives viewers a preview of what Australia has to offer. I also like the curve between the header and the navigation. The navigation is easy to read and I think it works being in a orange brown color. The 3 column body area works pretty well. I like that there is a picture on the left and then a description beside it. They kept the contact and subscribe information on the far right, which I think is a good idea. It's not in your face, but it's easy to find if you wanted to find that information. Overall, I like the layout of this website.

Fresno City College

This is Fresno City College website. I'm not sure if I like the colors. I like the colors red and black, but they are very hard to work with. I'm working with those colors now for a magazine that I'm designing. I think this website has too much red and black. I think it would be better if the background was a different color like white. Right now it's too much red and black. Red is hard to read on black and vice versa. I like the header. I like the hidden city/bridge in the background. It doesn't stand out right away, but it's a cool touch. I like the curve below the navigation, but I don't think the amount of space on each side is the same. It looks like the right side has a little more space between the word and the end of the curve than the left side. This website has a top and side navigation. I think for a college website that works because there is a lot of information on college websites and a lot of links that people like to go to. I like the big picture in the body area. They should get rid of the red underline text in the footer because it's hard to read against the black.

Mums Who Bake website

Mums Who Bake websitehttp://www.designpix.co.uk/website-mums-who-bake.html
This was designed by DesignPix
Completion date: May 2009.
Details: Vicki at Mums Who Bake needed an identity for her idea of an online shop and baking community for all those frustrated bakers out there. She wanted the brand not only to identify with the personal gratification of baking, but also with the memories of baking with mum as a child; the smell, the taste and the warm feelings inside. The website needed a bespoke forum, a photo gallery that Vicki herself could add to, and an online shop.

I really like the colors of this website. I think the target audience is definitely women. I like the play on words and I also like the header. I think their logo fits who they are. I like that their logo has a flow to it. I also like the curve that separates the navigation from the header. I think they could have gone with a slightly bigger font since they have extra room in the header. I like how the body is laid out. I really like the 3 pink boxes and I like how they alternate as far as what side the words are on. It gives it a diagonal movement. This website feels homey and cheerful. The pink text in the body area works because it relates to the pink on the page. I like how they chose a few words in the second paragraph to be in pink so they can stand out. Those words catch my attention more than the other words do. I like the design of this website.

Saye Gbatu

CTE creative does print, web, and photography. I can't find the person's name who created this website, but I think he created his company "CTE creative." He designed this website for his friend Saye Gbatu who is an illustration artist. I don't like how the artist's name is reflected. It's hard to read and it doesn't go along with the header. I feel like something else should be in the header because it's a lot of white space, but maybe not because there is a lot going on at the bottom. I still feel like the header is missing something. This website clearly focuses on the artist's work because there isn't any information on the home page. I feel like there should be a bio about the artist somewhere on the home page. There are a lot of thumbnails at the bottom. I like it and don't like it at the same time. It's bugging me that there is an extra thumbnail on the top line. I would like to see a caption with each blown up picture on the side. The information could include how he made it, the materials, and a possible title. This website is heavily based on pictures. I think this website still needs some tweaking.

Aqaba Website

I'm not crazy about the design of this website. There are some things I like about it, but not much. I really like the logo. I love how the letters are made out of fish. I don't like the little white pictures going across that header. I think it's too distracting and you can see the header picture better without the white pictures. This website doesn't seem that organized. The navigation seems to get lost on the side because it doesn't stand out. I like the pictures on the front, but I think they need to be laid out differently. They should separate the pictures and then put a caption underneath. The type next to the jet ski picture at the bottom looks weird and it's not working.  It looks like it's justify aligned. I don't like the extra space between the words. There is no reason to do that for body text. The footer isn't that exciting looking. The footer takes up a lot of space when it shouldn't. It looks like they were  trying to fill in the space. This website needs some work and organization.

Interactive Website_Pennsylvania Tourism

This is an interesting website. I like websites that are interactive, the only problem with them are that they can have a slow download time. It looks like you can click on the pictures or the tabs. I like how bright and colorful the tabs are, but I don't think it matches with the colors in the background. The tabs are bright colors, but the background isn't. I think they should change the tab colors to a dark red or green. It would be cool if the background of this website changed with the seasons.

Chocolate Clothing

chocolate clothing website philippines  This is the Chocolate Clothing website. I like the colors of it. Most people probably think of the color brown when they think of chocolate, but in this case they chose pink and a light brown for the colors. From the looks of this website it looks like it is targeting to women. I think this is women's clothing boutique. I like that they are show casing some of their products on models on the homepage. It gives viewers a taste of what the boutique style is. I like how the social media icons are pink instead of the traditional colors. Their footer seems a little large. I might make that a little smaller. It looks like they have 2 search boxes. The most important one is the one on the top. I also like the textured background in the header. The pink line divides the main picture with the 4 ads below and I think that works. For the most part, I like the overall look.

Nomad website

Nomad Food website design

Yammayap created this website for Nomad. Yammayap is located in London. They design websites and print publications. I don't like the lines going through the picture. I don't get why they would want the picture to be cut up like that. They are bringing the gutters between the tabs all the way down the page in white and I don't think it looks good. There is no reason to do that. I think the picture and the tabs would benefit from not having any lines. I like the colors that they used. It looks like they pulled the green from the fruit in the background. This looks like a 3 column layout, which I think works. I like how they put the contact information on the front page, so it would be easy to find. I think the typography works because it's simple and has a calm feeling

Morgan's American Grill Website

http://www.morgansamericangrill.com/

This is Morgan's American Grill website. Almost all of the text is in papyrus typeface. This font is hard to read for the main body type. I can understand if someone used this font for a title or header, but it should not be use for the main type. It's weird that they used papyrus when it's an "American Grill" restaurant. When I think of papyrus I think of Egypt and nature places. There website is small. It doesn't fill the whole page and it's aligned to the left side. I like the red and yellow lines on the left side. I think the colors match the colors of the food in the pictures. I think the information in the header like the restaurant hours are hard to read. The text is in a white-gray color against black and the font they used is hard to read. I think it might be better if the navigation was below the header instead of next to it. They need to make some changes to the website and get rid of papyrus for the main text!

Pollock Dickerson Website

I really like this design. I really like the layout. It's easy to read and it's visually appealing.  I like that they used blue and white for the text. I like how the word "Welcome to" is blue and "Pollock Dickerson" is in white. I think the big picture works well below the navigation. Black is usually a heavy color or a elegant color and usually black doesn't work for a whole background in websites. In this case I think the black background brings out the white and blue text. I think it's a good idea to showcase their recent projects. I like how the tail in"R" in Dickerson comes below the rest of the word. I think this is a well-designed website.

Surfmag.com

http://www.surfmag.com/

This is a poor designed website. It is not organized at all and it doesn't flow well. It looks like someone just randomly threw pictures and words on this website because they didn't know where to put them at. It's a two-column website, but the columns basically have the same information in them, so I don't know what the purpose of having two-columns would be on this website. They are advertising their surfing magazines, posters, eBooks, movies, and tin signs. The information is all over the place and makes my eyes jump, so I can try to follow and understand it. I know it's usually good to have movement in your design, but this is the wrong kind of movement. I don't get why the title in the header is pink and the rest of the website is blue and green. I think they should change the title to green to match the other colors. The only thing I like about this website is the background. This website definitely needs some more work.

California State University

I like the color of this website and I like the two-toned background. I like the title and the orange bar complements the blue.  I think this is a pretty good layout. It's not busy or overcrowded. I like the body area. It looks like if you click on a side picture the picture and description will blow up into the bigger area on the left. I like that they have 4 simple tabs at the top. I also like the search bar. The search bar didn't jump out at me at first, but I think that's okay because search bars aren't the most important thing on a college website. I like that the have social media logo icons at the bottom, but I think they are a little large. I also like that they have the actual college logo at the very bottom. I think this is a pretty well designed website.

"U & Me" website designed by a "graphic designer"

HTML5, CSS, Flash
http://www.styleapple.com/public/user_details.php?account=overview&id=13862&uid= : According to this website, a graphic designer named Jeffery Ritz Jr. designed this website for a company called "U & Me." I don't think it's that well-designed. I couldn't figure out what the title was. I thought it said "UME." He needs to redesign the title because it doesn't read right. One of the first things I learned when designing is that center alignment is bad!!! I was told that you should rarely use center alignment and it is okay in only some designs. 90% of the time center alignment is bad!!! In this case, center alignment is bad and he should have not used it for the contact page. That just bugs me. He is a graphic designer and he thought using center alignment was okay for the contact page...well he is wrong. I don't think the colors work well either. I like the orange because the orange comes from the food, but I don't know where the purple comes from. I like the pictures at the bottom, but it doesn't seem like it flows together. I just noticed that everything on this website is centered. I do not like the design of this website. He needs to re-do it.

Swell website

I really like this website. I love the colors. It's very elegant looking. I like the low opacity flowers in the background. I also like the typography on this website. I think it's a good idea to showcase their designs on the home page. It looks like you can scroll through the pictures in the box. Their contact information is very easy to find. I don't like websites where you have to hunt for the contact information. Everything is very fancy on the website. I think this is a well designed website.

Baltimore Tourism

http://baltimore.org/about-baltimore/baltimore-tourism/

This is the Baltimore tourism website. It has a green, orange, and blue color scheme. I don't think the colors are bad, but I feel like they should have stuck with 2 colors instead of 3. Maybe they should have went with a orange and blue since those 2 colors are complementary colors. I like their logo. I like how Visit and Baltimore are in 2 different fonts and I like the little icons above the word Baltimore. There site is a little busy, but it's pretty clean compared to other tourism websites. The website has 3 different navigation bars. I like that it has a box on the right side that says "Plan your trip." I also think it was a good idea to include another box with tabs that says "hotels, attractions, deals, packages, dining, cars, and flight." People from Maryland or not can plan their trip to Baltimore and this website makes it easy to do that. I also think it's very important to have an events box/tab. They have an events box that lists events that are going on now until whatever date they end, what times, the events name, and where it's at. I think it's important for people living in Baltimore and people that are thinking about traveling to Baltimore to see the latest events, so they can plan their trip better. I like the little bio of Baltimore tourism on the home page in the center. I think every tourism website should have a search bar and this one does at the top. They also included social media at the very top. This website has some flaws, but I think for the most part it's visually interesting and gets the job done.

Leeds University Website

This is the Leeds University website. I like the picture in the background, but I think it is a little too much. I really like the calendar on the left side. I think it's convient and people would like to see what events are coming up. The dates are a little hard to read against the background picture. It might be better if they put a low opacity white or red box behind the calendar. I like that the navigation and body area are in a white box, so it doesn't interfere with the background picture. I also think that the color choices work well on this website.

South Dakota Tourism

http://www.travelsd.com/

I like this website a lot. The only thing that I would change is the header. I like the changing pictures in the header, but it is way too big. I like the navigation and the brown background. I like that the logo is on every picture in the header. I also think it was a good idea to put "Start Planning" and "Book Online" as side bars. The only thing I would change about that is the font because it's a little hard to read and I didn't notice it at first. I like the search bar up top. I think it was a good idea to put little icons of different countries in the search bar because they are actual links to the South Dakota website and brochures in different languages like French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Chinese. I don't think the footer needs to be that big. There is a lot of empty space in the footer and they should go shorter with it. I like that they have a photos and videos section in the body area. Overall, I think this is a well designed website, but it needs to be smaller. It seems a little top heavy.

Claire Read's Original Art website by GetSited

This is Claire Read's Original Art website. She is an artist based in Shropshire. She used GetSited to create her website. I really like this website. It's clean, organized, and professional looking. I like the background color- it makes her artwork pop more. I also like the thin white border around each picture. Sometimes borders don't work, but I think in the case it works because it makes the picture pop against the dark background. I like that her home page isn't overwhelmed with text. I think it was a good idea to list the materials and the size of her artwork. I also like that she included 4 more pictures of her artwork at the bottom so people can see what is new in her gallery. I also like that her name in the header is her signature. It adds a personal touch.

Tea Website

#Web #Design
I'm assuming that the first page is the home page and the second and third page are sub pages. I really like the home page. I love the picture of the tea and I like how they made the steam into a heart. I think the navigation works better on the side than the top because it doesn't get in the way of the picture. I also like the black/brown box at the bottom. I think it balances the page out-it looks like the tea/table has something to rest on. I might have made the font size a little bigger on the navigation. I noticed that all of the pages has the same black/brown box at the bottom with the same information and pictures. I think that's a good thing to have because it makes the website consistent has a whole. No matter what page you are at on the website you can still see and read the information and the picture below. It's like a mini home page on each of the subpages. I like how on the second page the navigation becomes a long red box to show that you have clicked on it. I also like the wooden table on each page. I think the brown background fits for this page too. The color brown doesn't work on most websites unless it's about nature, baking, or the home. This website has a homey and warm feeling to it.

Visual Effects Studio

This is an interesting website. I have mixed feelings about this website. I like the torn edges around the background because it creates texture and it's different. I think the logo is a little large. I'm not sure how I feel about the buttons as tabs. My teacher told me not to use buttons/circles for the tabs. I think the buttons are a little distracting to the rest of the page. This is a visual effects studio website by Jeremy Vickery. I like the pictures on the homepage. He has a lot of pictures and that usually wouldn't work, but the way he laid it out I think the pictures work. It looks like the tabs are hand-written or in a hand-written font. Sometimes hand-written fonts don't work on the web, but I think it this case it does. I think it fits the website because it's a visual effects studio. I like the outline around the picture. I like that there is a curve under the logo and then a straight line mimicking the tabs. I think this website still needs some work though.

Spoiled Cars_Website Services LA

I really like the header on this website. I love the animated corvette racing towards the audience. I like how they made the car big, but they might have made it a little too big. Some people might find the car distracting and if they do the designers could just make the car a little smaller. I also like the red and gray flames behind it. I noticed that they carried a red and gray color scheme throughout the webpage. Usually tires are black, but in this case they made the tire red in the logo. I think I would rather see the tire in black, but I can see that they were trying to keep with the color scheme. I also think that the navigation works better on the side since there is a lot going on in the header. I do like the flames in the corner, but I wish the flames were the same color. On the left side the flames has red in it and the right side doesn't. They were probably trying to make it different on purpose, but I think they should have kept it the same color to make in more unified. I also like that the pictures in the body area are outline with red instead of the typical black. For the most part I like the design on this website.

Satori
SATORi needed to revamp their website, and put Marstudio up to the challenge. Their old look did not effectively represent their exceptional Japanese cuisine and the navigation made it extremely hard for their clientele to find the information they required. Marstudio took on the project and designed a very simple, clean and unique website that not only elevates SATORi's cuisine but also acts as a very effective platform for their patrons to find information rapidly.

I really like this website. I think the background fits the restaurant. I think the header and navigation works well. I like that the color theme is red and black. It looks like a Japanese restaurant. They have characters on the side and they have a red circle/O in their logo and the Japan flag has a red circle on it. I think that's a good idea. I also like the picture of the food in the body area. I like that they have 2 tabs. One up top and one above the picture. Everything is easy to read. I think this is a very clean and well-designed website. I think everything flows together well.

Featured Project: Au Naturale
web design consulting firm

Technology: PHP - HTML - CSS
Type: Website Design
This local health food restaurant needed a new web design to continue with their current branding.
By continuing the brand of their logo with some graphical elements - we were also able to help the user understand the company message of the restaurant through the website design.

I like the design of this website. I like that the title is in a talk bubble. It is a modern website and it fits with their slogan... "A Modern Eatery." I like the two-toned background. I also like the side tab bars. Most navigations are on the top of the page. I also think the 3 pictures add a lot to the home page. I like when websites have pictures of their product on their home page. I also like the blurb that says "Order Online Now." The green is a nice pop of color and it also grabs the viewers attention. This is a very clean and simple website and I think it words for an eatery.

http://www.the80port.com/DC-Web-Design/Portfolio.aspx

This is a glass company website that a DC Web Design Company designed. It's called the "The 80 Port Web Soultions." This company is a fairly new company. I think this is a very elegant designed website. It fits perfectly for a glass company. I like the blue box behind the information. I think the blue box is a nice pop of color since everything else is either gray or white. I think it's a good idea to put pictures of their products on their home page. I really like the header. Even though the header has negative space in it I think it works in this case. I like their logo and I think it fits their company. This website is very clean and elegant, and that's what I think of when I think of glasses. Their tabs are simple and to the point. I also like the gray bar that goes across the top of the page. I think DC web design did a nice job of designing this website.

LimoTaxi Website

I wouldn't think of most limo service websites to be designed like this. I think of limo websites has more formal and classic websites. I like this website because it's different. I like the road in the background. I didn't notice it at first, but the yellow bars and the taxi driver hat hanging off the side of the yellow bar reminds me of taxi service. They took taxi service and made it flashy. I like how the title is designed and I like how "Taxi" is in yellow because most people think of taxis in yellow.  I like the photo of the 3 limos and one of them is pink. I also like how the hummer limo is coming into the page. This web page has continuity because it kept the dark, flashy, and new feel to it. I think it's a creative website.

Midwife website

This is a midwife website designed by StecTech Industries located in Phoenix Arizona. They design professional looking websites. I really like the colors on the website. I think the purple and green work together well. I also like the earthy green for the body area. I like how they have everything laid out. I think the header works well. I like the picture of a mom (midwife) and the baby. I'm pretty sure this website is about hiring a midwife and finding out what they can offer. The whole website has a soft feeling to it and it also has a nice flow to it.

Born 2 Camp_Finer Design

This is the new "Born 2 Camp" website redesigned by the design firm Finer Design. They are located in Michigan. I think they also redid their logo. I'm not sure what their logo was before, but I do like this logo. It is a little big, but I think it works. I like how the made the brown shape goes around the words and I like the tent and trees. It makes me think of camping in the great outdoors. This website seemed a little boring at first, but then I realized that it was a shopping site. I wish it had some more color or something else, but if it did have that then it might be too distracting while people are trying to shop. I do like the brown and orange color scheme. You see those colors a lot in nature. I like the brown search bar and the word "Quick Find" in orange. It is a very clean and easy to read website, which is good for a shopping website. I like how the shopping cart is visible on the right side. Everything flows together fairly well.

Accept Jesus Website....

http://www.dokimos.org/ajff/

I just have to blog about this website. It's so bad that it's funny. There are so many things that are wrong on this website. The font is terrible. It looks like they used word art to make the font pop out like it is coming towards you. The rainbow background just has to go! I don't think a moving rainbow background is appropriate for any site, but it would be more appropriate for a music/rave site not a Christan site. The music doesn't go along with the site either. When I think about church music I think of pianos and soft music, not this type. When you first open the website a cat meows and then it goes into the music. I don't think having a warning sign bar at the top of the page is a good way to have a link to another page. Usually when the warning bar pops up it usually isn't a good sign. Some of the pictures and words are links to other Christan pages. I have no clue why they chose to have a cat running across the bottom of the page under buildings and ladders. This is a horrible designed website. Nothing makes sense and nothing on the page goes together. This has absolutely no continuity in it. This page needs to be deleted or seriously redone. I am designing my first website and this website showed me what not to do!

I took this picture on my iPod. I know it's not the greatest quality, but I also provided a link to the website because you have to look at it yourself.

Virginia DMV Driver Improvement Program Website

http://www.5safepoints.com/

I am currently designing my first home page and 5 sub pages in my web design class. I am  researching good and bad websites to see what other people have done.
This is a horrible website. This is the Virginia DMV Approved Provider of Classroom & Online Driver Improvement Program Courses website. They have this very annoying and unnecessary box that floats across the page no matter where you are at on the page. It is a green sticker and inside it says +5 Points Award for Successful Completion of course. Their page is very crowded and not organized at all. They have pictures and information randomly put on the page. They don't even have a navigation. The website takes FOREVER too load. There is the long scroll bar and I scrolled down to the bottom of the page and there is nothing there. I have been on this website for at least 5 minutes and it still hasn't finished loading. The thing is... it doesn't even look like it's loading. It looks like the page just stops and then there is a bunch of blank space. Either they need to redo their website so it loads faster or they need to make the scroll page shorter, so it's not misleading. The website needs a lot of work and attention.

Wood Street Inc

Wood Street, INC. web design development is a design and development firm located in Fredrick, MD, which is less than an hour from where I live.

Objective
Advanced Urgent Care is comprised of board-certified emergency physicians who are available when your primary care physician isn't. Unfortunately their old website was not designed or developed in the best way to instill confidence in their top notch level of care. They needed something that started the patient's experience off right.
Solution
Wood Street designed and developed a clean and easy to navigate website. The patient can now easily find out more about their services and qualifications as well as how to get there and what to expect from their visit. The site also directs them to a third party service where they can access their patient profile online.

Project Tools

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Dreamweaver
  • Adobe Fireworks
  • HTML/CSS
  • JavaScript

This is the home page of Advanced Urgent Care. Urgent Care places are very important. I would know because this past year I have been there at least 4 or 5 times. People go to urgent care when it's serious enough that they can't wait for Monday for a doctor's appointment, but not life threatening that they have to go to the ER. The great thing about Urgent Care is that people don't have to make appointments, but it is first come first serve and that can take up to 2 hours.
I would have liked to see the website before they redesigned. I think for the most part this is a well-designed website. Going to urgent is never fun and can be scary, so you want soothing colors that aren't too bright or black and you want them to be calming. I like the orange and the green on this website because it grabs people's attention, but it's not over the top. I really like the curved design beneath the navigation. It looks sharp. I like that they kept the navigation simple and down to only 3 tabs. A lot of people want to know what to expect when they go to a place like this, but they usually don't find out until they get there. The only thing I don't like about this website is the background. There are 2 feelings that I associate with this background. The first feeling is that it's a dark background (scary place), it reminds me of metal medical tools, and it reminds me of a factory rather than a medical place. On the other hand, they might have made it that way to show people that they are professional (and it makes the website clean). Personally I don't like the background. I think a soothing color should be the background color like maybe a tan or off white color.
This is the About Us page. I like how they kept the same curved designed up top. They definitely have continuity throughout their site. I finished designing my home page for my first website and now I have to design 5 sub pages.

Blue Fountain Media

This was the NFL youth player websites before Blue Media  redesigned it.
Blue Fountain Median is a digital agency in NYC. They design logos, branding, mobile app development, and much more. They have received press coverage from The New York Times, The Washington Post, Smart Money, and more." Some of their clients are at&t, NASA, NFL, Walt Disney, Nike, Girl Scouts of Greater New York and more.
Blue Fountain Media designed and developed the website of the NFL Youth Player Development program.

This is the NFL youth program website after Blue Fountain designed it. This website looks so much better than the old one. It looks more professional while still focusing on kids. It is a lot easier to read and it is more visual pleasing. I love the background that they chose for the website. The old website was having trouble with getting people to sign-up for the program. People should have no problem finding how to join their program now because it is right in front of them. I also like the little sidebar picture slide to show different views of young football players. They also simplified the navigation and added a few things. The made the tab "High School Player Development" (old site) to "HS Player Development" and it saves room. I also like how they have a search bar in the header because the old site didn't have that. I am in intro to web design class and I am researching various websites and design firms.

The Results were...
  • The NFL Youth Player website's traffic increased by over 22%.
  • Time on Site increased by 150%
  • The bounce rate dropped by over 40%.
  • Q&A with Coach Miller provides readers with insider access
  • The content management system collectively saves the organization hundreds of hours per week.
  • A full-featured site provides young people a chance to see what the NFL can do for them, not only as athletes, but as productive adults.

    Ping Pong!

    Pinned Image
This is a ping-pong website based in England. I feel like the target audience of this website is young kids to teenagers. It has a fun and colorful feel to it. This website mainly focuses on ping pong. I like how the colors are dull down. It reminds me of colors back in like the 1980's. I really like the header. I like the bouncy line going from the word ping to the paddle. It definitely has a old feel to it. Either this is an old website or it just has that 1980's feel to it. I also like how everything is lined up. I like the sponsors in a light blue color at the bottom. This website has contitunity throughout the page. I am currently making my first website on Dreamweaver. I probably wouldn't make a website like this, but I like this website because it's different.

    Disney Website (UP)

Disney This is the Disney website. I think this is a older version of the website because it's not their current one. When people design websites they have to think of who their target audience is. I have been focusing on websites for teenagers/adults, but there are a lot of children's websites out there too. Disney is definitely a kid-friendly website. Disney alters its theme depending on what product is being promoted (right now it's Wreck-It Ralph). I like that they have small images above the words in the toolbar. I think having the search bar under the title is a good idea because it's central and kids can find it easily. I know central things are usually bad. They are obviously promoting the movie UP. I like the Paradise Falls background. It makes children feel like they are actually there. I like how they have a featured video and they also have another sort of toolbar at the bottom. This website has continuity. I think this is an effective website. I know this website is way too complex for me to design since I'm only in intro to web design class, but I still like the website.

ACS Creative- Washington DC's Premier Design and Marketing Firm

    DCAikido_1

This website was design by ACS Creative- Washington DC's Premier Design & Marketing Firm. They did this website for their client DC Aikido, which is a Japanese Martial Arts Studio located in Washington D.C. This firm includes services from branding, logos, web design and development, print design, and many more. I am in a web page design class right now. I am doing research on different web pages and design firms. I never heard of this firm until today. This firm is less than 2 hours from where I live, so that’s good. I like the background in the header. They get right to the point by putting a big red bar in the header that says "What's Aikido?" I think that's a good idea because if I heard of that/saw it I would have no clue what it meant. I like how they have a featured video on the left side. One of my websites that I designed has a featured story, but it would be neat if it was a featured video. I also like how they have "Ready to Begin" next to the video because if someone wanted to sign up they wouldn't have to look hard to find it. I'm not sure how I feel about the bamboo footer. I like it because it does remind me of Japan, but I don't think it really ties in to the rest of the page. They carried out the red and black color scheme throughout the page, which is good. I think this website has continuity for the most part.

    Catering Website

I am in a web design class. I have already created 3 websites, but now I need to put them in Dreamweaver. I have to make some changes on my websites, so I am still looking at other websites to get inspiration. I really like this website. It's a catering website in Ashburn, VA. I usually don't like the color green, but I love it on this website. It is a very soft and elegant green. I also like the 4 curved lines. They have one under the title which leads to the phone number, another one in the header, one below the tabs leading to the information in the body, and another at the bottom acting like a footer. I think these curved lines are a great idea because it leads the eye to certain information and it ties the page together. I like the tabs being on the side instead of the top. I think it works in this design. I also like the 2 pictures they have on the home page showing people what they can create. The only thing I would change on this website is the font. I like the font for the title and the tabs, but I don't like it for the address/phone number on the right side. It's a little hard to read the address and phone number in that font. I think they should choose a different font or even bring in the font in the body area up to the contact information. I like the low opacity food picture in the header, but I don't like the utensils. I think the utensils look too cartoonish and they should just get rid of them. Overall, I really like this website. I would just change a few things.

    Andy Goldsworthy's Website

    http://www.ucblueash.edu/artcomm/web/w2005_2006/maria_Goldsworthy/TEST/index.html

This is Andy Goldsworthy website (home page). I think his website is a little too simple, but maybe that's what he was going for. The home page is a little plain. I think it needs some color or a textured background. I like that there is a quote by him at the bottom of the home page. I like that he uses his artwork as icons for his 5 different tabs. I feel like his home page has a lot of empty space, especially on the right-hand side (can't really see that on this picture, but you can on his acutal website). I like his artwork, but I don't really like his website that much. I am in a class called Intro to Web Page Design and I am learning how to create/design websites. I just finished designing a basic band, car, and sports memoriabilia website.
